Vadym Skibitskyi: We Know the Enemy’s Plans ― This Is Our Strong Point
February 21, 2024

On the eve of the second anniversary of the full-scale invasion, Major-General Vadym Skibitskyi, a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, told about russia’s likely plans and the current composition of its occupation forces.

“The ground component of the russian army grouping, which is located on the territory of Ukraine, is about 470,000 servicemen. There are also almost 33,000 russian guard servicemen deployed in the temporarily occupied territories,” Vadym Skibitskyi said.

According to him, russia has additionally deployed the grouping of the so-called “state border protection” numbering 30,000 servicemen in belhorod, kursk and briansk regions.

Vadym Skibitskyi added that the russian air force and navy are also involved in the war against Ukraine.

At the same time, the mobilisation resource that allows to conduct rotations and to redeploy troops, military aviation remains an advantage of the aggressor state of russia.

“Every day the enemy uses aerial bombs. For example, 75 aerial bombs, which weighted 500kg every, were launched at Avdiyivka in one day. In addition, every day the enemy attacks our facilities with the same Kh-31, Kh-59 and guided missiles,” the DIU representative said.

“First of all, now the russians are trying to destroy our air defence system, our aviation carrying weapons, as well as our airfield network,” he explained.

Ukraine has managed to level the enemy’s advantage in the naval component ― the russian black sea fleet is virtually isolated.

“We have fully ensured the ability to control the russian black sea fleet in terms of firepower and to strike at it if it enters the north-western part of the Black Sea. This gave us the opportunity to resume the operation of the sea corridor, which is now used for transporting grain and goods,” Vadym Skibitskyi noted.

The military intelligence representative reminded that over the two years of the war, Ukraine managed to liberate many territories that russia had counted on at the beginning of its large-scale aggression.

“The strategic goal of the russian federation, the full occupation of Ukraine, has not been achieved - this is the main thing. We have completely disrupted the plans that Russia had in February 2022,” he said.

Without going into details, Vadym Skibitskyi said that russia's weaknesses in the war are related to the command and control of its armed forces, as well as to equipment and weapons.

“We know everything; we take it all into account. Our troops are aware of this. Our strength is that we know the enemy’s plans,” the DIU said.
