On 23 May 2024, Andrii Yusov, representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, spoke about the significance of the Heroes Day and described the main feature of a Ukrainian heroic soldier in an interview with the “We Are Ukraine” channel.
“Decalogue of Ukrainian Nationalists, 7th Commandment: “You will not hesitate to perform the most dangerous act if the good of the cause requires it.” In fact, a [hero] is a person who overcomes himself, overcomes fear, and does things that need to be done here and now that no one else will do. Heroes are definitely not born, they are made,” said the representative of military intelligence.
According to him, the annual celebration of the Heroes Day, established in 1941, reminds us of the continuity of our nation’s struggle for freedom and glorifies the rank of brave Ukrainian soldiers.
“I think that the number of Ukrainian heroes who have distinguished themselves today need such recognition. Some of them, unfortunately, have perished, but others continue to fight. Their families need it, and their memory needs it, and future generations need it — so that they never repeat the mistakes of their predecessors. I am confident that the Day of Heroes will take its official rightful place in the Ukrainian state tradition,” said Andrii Yusov.
The representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine also answered current questions related to the course of the russian-Ukrainian war and the situation of the enemy:
