This was stated by Major General Kyrylo Budanov, Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, during the telethon "Yedyni Novyny".
"Strategic missile-carrying bombers fly a long enough distance to launch missiles. And this increase the motor resource of the aircraft," said Kyrylo Budanov. "Now, russian bombers do not approach the usual areas of attack: they take off, make a circle or two in the sky and launch missiles almost over the airfield in order to reduce the engine resource of the aircrafts."
According to him, russia currently has about 70 bomber aircrafts: Tu-160 and Tu-95. They have approximately 70-80 units of Tu-22M. About 40% of them are defective. The situation with the strategic aviation is approximately the same. In fact, there is no construction of strategic bombers in russia, so they are trying to reduce the motor resource of available aircrafts.
