A dramatic summer strike shook Novorossiysk as Ukraine's Defence Intelligence conducted a special operation in the Black Sea. One of DIU's strike sea drones managed to break through into Novorossiysk Bay, where russia keeps the remnants of its Black Sea Fleet.

Due to the effects of russian electronic warfare, the Ukrainian sea drone lost connection with its control center and began drifting. After some time, the local russian command ordered the drone to be retrieved from the bay for examination.

They deployed a group of five elite naval reconnaissance divers from the so-called "PDSS" — russia's special underwater sabotage and reconnaissance forces- to carry out the task. These are highly trained specialists equipped with top-tier gear and representing one of the most resource-intensive units in the russian Navy.

However, while attempting to manipulate the Ukrainian sea drone, it detonated. The explosion instantly killed all five elite russian combat divers.

Reports from novorossiysk indicate growing dissatisfaction among russian naval personnel over what they call a senseless "meat grinder" order — retrieving the Ukrainian drone — which resulted in the elimination of an entire elite unit.
