Residents of the town Novoukrainka, Kirovohrad region installed memorial signs in honor of fallen warriors
On the joint initiative of the public and teachers, as well as under the auspices of the Head of Novoukrainka town and local council memorial signs were installed in schools # 3 and #4 in honor of fallen countrymen – Viktor Harkavenko, Oleksandr Shevchenko and Viktor Karnaukh.
The memorial signs were installed at the schools where the fallen warriors had once studied. Although they perished in different wars their heroism and self-devotion are an example of patriotism and devotion to the honorary duty of a defender of Homeland.
Viktor Karnaukh and Viktor Harkavenko were scouts in a separate special force regiment. They died in the line of duty in the area of anti-terrorist operations. They were posthumously awarded the orders of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi and “For Courage” respectively.
Oleksandr Shevchenko was killed in the line of duty as part of the Soviet contingent in Afghanistan. He was posthumously awarded the order of the Red Star.
