After new russian missiles attacks, killed dozens of Ukrainians and amid expectations of the counteroffensive of Ukraine, Nick Schifrin, a journalist of PBS American public Broadcasting talked with Major General Kyrylo Budanov, Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.
"Any perpetrator that committed any war crimes or crimes against humanity in Ukraine or even very egregious crimes, like the group rape or killing of civilians and children, will be found and eliminated in any part of the world," Kyrylo Budanov said, adding that Ukraine has enough weapons and means to do this.
Commenting the statements of representatives of the USA and NATO on supplying promised weapons to Ukraine which are designed for counteroffensive, in particular, 2,000 units of armoured vehicles, General Kyrylo Budanov stressed once again a very important meaning of counteroffensive operation, the main goal of which is to liberate all Ukrainian territories.
At the same time, the head of Ukraine’s military intelligence agreed with assessments of U.S. officials who hope that at least Ukraine can improve its positions along the front lines to defeat the russian military logistics in the territory of occupied Crimea and deep in Donbas.
The Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine also said that the aggressor state currently seeks to take control of numerous russian military groups. According to Kyrylo Budanov, a new structure that russia is trying to create will aim to place the so-called private military companies under single command of the russian general staff:
“The russians want to create an umbrella organization that will be directing and commanding all of these paramilitary units, because, obviously, right now, there is no unity,” Kyrylo Budanov said, having confirmed that russia still mobilizing 20,000 to 22,000 recruits monthly.
Among other issues, the Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine was asked whether his forecasts about russia's inability to drag out this war, as well as its probable collapse, were overly optimistic.
“I can say only one thing, that time will show. I stand by my position,” Kyrylo Budanov summarized.
