On the occasion of the holiday, a ceremony of hoisting the National Flag of Ukraine has been held in Kyiv on August 23, 2023.

In the center of capital, a special national flag was raised ― the flag signed by Ukrainian Defenders who continue liberating Ukraine from the russians invaders.

The solemn ceremony was attended by: President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council Oleksii Danilov, Minister of Defence of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov, Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Maliuk, Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Major General Kyrylo Budanov, officers, the servicemen of the Security and Defence Forces of Ukraine.

The attendees observed a minute of silence in memory of all the heroes who gave their lives for Ukraine.

The head of the Ukrainian state Volodymyr Zelenskyi made a speech.

"This is our symbol, this is our talisman, this is our blue and yellow flag. Our flag is our pride that we feel when our flag flies high, when we celebrate our holidays, when we achieve our victories, when we take back our lands. Our flag is our confidence that he will definitely prevail wherever it should be by right," Volodymyr Zelenskyi said.
