Kyiv Local Council Renamed a Street in Ukrainian Capital in Honour of the Perished Intelligence Officer Maksym Shapoval

In addition, one more street, square and alley are renamed

Yesterday, Kyiv Local Council took a decision on renaming Mekhanizatoriv Street in Solomianskyi district in Kyiv in General Shapoval Street – in the honour of the Ukrainian intelligence officer who perished on the 27th June 2017 as a result of a bold terrorist attack, planned by Russian special services.

By a Decree of the President of Ukraine, Colonel Maksym Shapoval was posthumously promoted to the rank of Major General; his name will permanently remain in the lists of the military unit that he commanded and was written in the Book of Glory of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, which had been established with the aim of perpetuating the memory of individuals who made a significant contribution to the development of military intelligence of Ukraine.

According to other Decree of the President of Ukraine, Major General Shapoval Maksym Mykhailovych was awarded with the “Golden Star” Order of Hero of Ukraine (posthumously) for courage and heroism displayed in the protection of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, for his considerable contribution to strengthening state defence capability and security, selfless service to the Ukrainian people.
