Cadets of the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Army Academy Competed in Surmounting the 'Obstacle Course'

The competition consisted of following stages: surmounting the 'obstacle course', shooting, foot marching and providing medical first aid.

'Obstacle course' was constructed last year for the Reconnaissance Training Center. Its length is 1200 meters. There are 26 obstacles at this distance. All of these obstacles are various, very complex and are able to develop skills of military personnel: strength, endurance, speed, coordination of movements, unit cohesion. It is impossible to overcome it by themselves. It is possible when everyone cooperates in a team.

– It is impossible to overcome 'obstacle course' without good physical fitness, senior instructor of the competition Lieutenant Colonel Dmytro Opalak says. – The cadets overcome it having personal weapon, wearing in bulletproof vests and helmets. And there is one more thing: future officers overcome 'obstacle course' faster and more successfully being as a part of unit and during competition. Awareness of duty before a team is triggered. Failure of one is nonfulfillment of a task by a section. Therefore every cadet rejects all fears, acts within limit of strength. It instills a special sense of team to guys.

Also, the instructors of the Academy consider that such competitions are effective way of training of military leaders.
