The documentary research by Artem Shevchenko "Defenсe Intelligence of Ukraine. In the Air, at Sea, on the Ground" was presented at the Kyiv Book Weekend.
The book, published by Yakaboo Publishing, is based on four documentaries about combat operations of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine during the full-scale war with Russia:
The foreword to the book was written by the Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov.
Author Artem Shevchenko said that the book is primarily addressed to journalists, experts, researchers, family members of servicemen and military professionals themselves.
The documentary genre and journalistic style of the study may also be of interest to a much wider range of readers concerned with military topics and military history both in Ukraine and abroad.
"It is very important for us to communicate to foreign audiences why and how we are fighting the aggressor. Many of the missions carried out by the defense intelligence in 2022-2023 and those that are being carried out now are unique in their own way. Foremost, they are unique in their audacity - when what seemed impossible at first glance becomes a reality on the battlefield," said author Artem Shevchenko.
"Some of the defenders who took part in the missions described in this book are no longer with us, they are among the fallen. And this is another extra argument why such books should appear. [...] Of course, the country will perpetuate the memory of the heroes. We should also show ourselves and the whole world what evil Ukraine is fighting against. This book is such an explanation - expertize, proficient and interesting," said Andrii Yusov, a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, who also took part in the presentation.
The first presentation of the book about the most successful missions involving defence intelligence officers took place on October 22, 2023, at the Frankfurt Book Fair, the largest and most important event in the world for publishers and readers.
The dynamics of the book's pre-sale, launched on October 18, 2023, has been growing, which proves that Ukrainians read, are eager to learn more about the valiant resistance to Russian invaders, and are proud of their heroes.
Now the commercial edition of the book is also available - it can be purchased at a discount during Kyiv Book Weekend.
