No matter who is wounded, we provide assistance to everyone without exception - combat medic Gaspar
February 5, 2025

Gaspar is a combat medic with the DIU's Kraken active operations unit. He is a native of Merefa, Kharkiv region. From 2019 to 2021, Gaspar served in the National Guard. He met the full-scale invasion in his native region, joined the territorial defense, and entered the DIU special unit.

Gaspar's story was told by Channel 24 journalists.

He recalled his first encounter with the enemy on the battlefield - during the liberation of Pytomnyk, Kharkiv region, in May 2022.

"It was one of the most difficult battles, as it was the beginning of a full-scale war, and none of the guys had been "shelled" yet. It was there that I had my first close contact with the enemy. There, I used my knowledge of medicine to help my first wounded comrade, a soldier, with the call sign "Dolphin," Gaspar said.

Then, he improved his skills as a combat medic and continued to save his wounded comrades.

"Our work is not focused exclusively on ''my man - my man''. No matter who comes under fire or is wounded, we provide assistance, rescue, evacuate," he emphasized.

According to Gaspar, a combat medic must be cool during operations.

"There is no place for the emotional component. It can play a cruel joke on you. It doesn't matter whether you are a medic or an assault pilot. First of all, you are a military man. You go to work, get into a combat vehicle, and leave your emotions at home," the soldier explained.
