At the naval base in the Syrian city of Tartus, russian warships are waiting to transport military equipment and weapons.

The base in Tartus is home to, among others, mercenaries of the "African Corps" controlled by the russian Ministry of Defense.

The russian large amphibious assault ships ivan gren and aleksandr orefkovsky and the dry cargo ship Sparta are scheduled to arrive in the Syrian port on January 5, 2025.

The chief of staff of the 121st brigade of amphibious assault ships of the russian aggressor fleet, 1st Rank Captain davitian yuri albertovich, is on board.

Two more russian vessels — the universal cargo ship Sparta II and the tanker ivan skobelev — are scheduled to call at Tartus on January 8, 2025. They are currently intending to cross the Strait of Gibraltar.

The russians plan to use the Sparta and Sparta II cargo ships to transport military equipment and weapons from Syria to Libya.

Another russian warship from the russian Navy's operational group in the Mediterranean, the frigate admiral golovko, is planning to refuel.

Meanwhile, armored personnel carriers, probably taken from Syria, were unloaded at an airfield in the vladimir region of russia.
