They were wed by the war
Fate brought them together in the ATO area. Natalia and Serhii are serving in a separate mechanized brigade’s reconnaissance troop.
Melitopol-born Serhii worked for a building company after graduating from university. When Maidan broke out, he joined “Self-Defence of Maidan” NGO. In 2015, he signed up as a volunteer to fight for the integrity of Ukraine.
When the Revolution of Dignity broke out, Natalia was an undergraduate at college. The girl says that she could not stay at home and observe the development of the situation in the country from a TV screen, that is why she came to Kyiv. “I made meals, gathered clothes, and then I came home, finished my college education and enrolled to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. One month later I was in the ranks of the Armed Forces. Naturally, my parents were afraid for me, they worried, but they accepted my choice. They understand that I am making a difference – I am defending my country”, – Natalia says.
Natalia began her service as a communications woman in a reconnaissance troop on the frontline, now she is a sanitary instructor.
The newly-weds first met on the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Now, they are expecting a baby, they dream about having a boy and a girl. Meanwhile, they will return back to service after the wedding.
