For the NV online edition, some professional techniques were described by Kyrylo Budanov, Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, in a commentary on the peculiarities of the work of Ukrainian military intelligence and the resistance movement in the occupied territories.
According to the head of the intelligence service, any operation behind enemy lines begins with the so-called ‘cultivation’ – the search for people, who are inclined to cooperate and their subsequent recruitment.
And although this process is very painstaking, agent network of Ukraine is growing.
“There are three motives for cooperation with intelligence: material and financial, ideological and patriotic, as well as hatred of a third party or a common enemy. Everything you do will lead to one of these options,” explained Kyrylo Budanov.
The officer of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine with the call sign ‘Khartsyz’ noted that real human intelligence work is not a situational, one-time cooperation, but a long-term relationship.
