On August 16, 2025, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine carried out an operation in the temporarily occupied city of Melitopol, Zaporizhzhia region, destroying an ammunition depot and russian forces that moscow had redeployed to the Zaporizhzhia front.

The blast struck just as an enemy truck carrying personnel arrived at the occupiers' base in the industrial zone near Korvatskoho Passage in Melitopol.

At least six russian marines and members of the UAV crew from the so-called kadyrov battalion "akhmat-vostok" were eliminated. The exact number of killed and wounded among the occupiers is still being clarified.

The explosion also ignited the ammunition depot, triggering a series of secondary detonations.

Occupying forces dispatched four ambulances to the site.

Ukraine's Defence Intelligence emphasizes: every war crime will be met with just retribution.
