Ukraine Evacuates 176 People from Israel Amid Escalating Conflict, Including 133 Ukrainian Citizens
June 23, 2025

On June 22, 2025, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, successfully conducted an evacuation operation from Israel, where the security situation continues to deteriorate. The mission was carried out under the direct instruction of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

A total of 176 people were evacuated, including 133 Ukrainian citizens and nationals of Moldova, Latvia, Azerbaijan, Estonia, and the United States.

The aircraft landed safely in the Republic of Moldova, where the Ukrainian evacuees will continue their journey home.

"My family and I were on vacation in Tel Aviv, trying to take a short break from the war in Ukraine — but we ended up in another nightmare: explosions, shelling. I applied for evacuation via the embassy website, and we're heading home just a few days later. I'm grateful to everyone involved — President Zelenskyy, the embassy staff, and our military intelligence," said one evacuee from the Kyiv region.

This mission is part of broader efforts to bring Ukrainian citizens to safety from conflict zones in the Middle East. With the support of international partners, the DIU and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have successfully carried out similar complex, multi-stage evacuations from Syria and Lebanon, returning hundreds of Ukrainian and foreign nationals, including women and children, to safety.

"When the shelling started, my son and I visited my mother in Tel Aviv. Our flight was canceled, so she reached out to the embassy. Thanks to everyone who helped — I'm truly grateful. I'm just happy to be back," said another evacuee from Kyiv.

Ukrainian officials also expressed their gratitude to the government of Moldova for its assistance during the operation.

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine continues actively supporting Ukrainian citizens facing danger abroad.
