The DIU (Defence Intelligence of Ukraine), in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine, has identified and gathered evidence against russian commanders involved in organizing the missile strike on Sumy on April 13, 2025, using two "Iskander-M" ballistic missiles.
As a result of the enemy attack, 35 people were killed, including two children. Another 125 people, 22 of whom were minors, sustained injuries of varying severity. Nearly 100 civilian infrastructure facilities were destroyed or damaged, including apartment buildings, educational institutions, shops, public transport, and local architectural monuments.
According to the investigation, the shelling of the Ukrainian city was initiated by colonel general aleksiy kim, chief of staff and first deputy commander of the joint grouping of forces (forces) in Ukraine of the russian armed forces, and kim’s deputy, chief of Intelligence colonel vasiliy solovyov.
Under kim's orders, the preparation for the missile strike was carried out by officials of the Fire Support Planning and Coordination Center of the joint grouping of forces in Ukraine of the russian armed forces:
Direct orders to launch the ballistic missiles from the kursk and voronezh regions were given by colonel roman polushin, commander of the 448th missile brigade, and colonel sergey ponomaryov, commander of the 112th missile brigade.
Based on the evidence collected, Security Service of Ukraine investigators have notified all eight war criminals of suspicion in absentia under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (war crimes resulting in death, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons).
Comprehensive measures are ongoing to locate and punish those responsible.
The DIU reminds: there will be just retribution for every war crime committed against the Ukrainian people!
