The legendary Ukrainian reconnaissance man Ihor Hordiichuk went through all the stages of his military career: from the commander of a mechanized platoon to the command of the Eighth Separate Special Forces Regiment.

In August 2014, a group of servicepeople led by Colonel Hordiychuk held the Savur-Mohyla mound for 12 days under round-the-clock enemy attacks and adjusted the fire of Ukrainian artillery.

During the breakthrough from the enemy encirclement, Ihor Hordiichuk was seriously wounded - the occupiers left him unconscious on the road, but he survived.

For exceptional courage, heroism, and loyalty to the oath of allegiance, Ihor Hordiichuk was awarded the Hero of Ukraine title, and the Order of the Golden Star.
