Kyrylo Budanov: russian fsb Instructed to Kill prihozhyn

russia's fsb has been tasked with liquidating the leader of the "Wagner" PMC yevhenii prihozhin after an attempted armed mutiny.

This was said by Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov in an interview with American journalist Hovard Altman.

"Any actions aimed at destabilising russia from the inside are beneficial for Ukraine. Thay's why, I was in a good mood," the DIU chief described his own emotions from the news about starting of prihozhyn's mutiny.

Kyrylo Budanov confirmed that Ukraine's military intelligence had known about the intention to carry out similar actions inside russia for a long time.

"We cannot talk about their profound influence (on russia's war against Ukraine) because all these events lasted for a very short time. However, some damage was caused to the russian aerospace forces. Secondly, we do not expect that "Wagner" PMC will appear in Ukraine as a separate entity that performs its own operations. And I believe that this factor is quite important for us," stated the DIU chief, remembering that "Wagner" PMC showed themselves as a more powerful fighting force, in contrast to the regular army of the aggressor state.

Kyrylo Budanov clarified that as a result of prihozhyn's brief mutiny, eight russian military aircrafts were destroyed, in particular the air-protected command post based on the IL-22M aircraft.

According to the chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, the russian special services were tasked to assassinate the owner of "Wagner" PMC.

"We are aware that the fsb was charged with a task to assassinate prihozhin. Will they be successful in doing that? We'll see with time. So in any case, all of such potential assassination attempts will not be fast. It will take them some time to have the proper approaches and to reach the stage when they're ready to add a huge operation. But once again, I'd like to underline that it's a big open question. Would they be successful in fulfilling that? Will they dare to execute that order?" Kyrylo Budanov said.
