On 30-31 August 2024, the Ukrainian Hand-to-Hand Combat Championship, dedicated to the Hero of Ukraine Major General of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Maksym Shapoval, took place in Bucha Kyiv region.

More than two hundred of the strongest athletes from 18 regions of Ukraine competed for the championship.

The Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov addressed the participants of the event and presented awards to the winners of the competition.

In his speech, he thanked for preserving the memory of the Hero of Ukraine Maksym Shapoval and stressed the importance of raising Ukrainian youth to be patriotic, strong in body and spirit.
