Service dogs were awarded for contribution to state security at the III “Four-legged Defenders” ceremony organized by the Ukrainian Kennel Union.

The event was held on the territory of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War on November 14, 2024.

The service dog Boy, who serves in the ranks of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine together with his handler, won the nomination "Search for Explosives".

The dogs were also recognized for their success in mine detection, special operations, drug search, and for saving lives.

Dog handlers and their four-legged “partners” from various agencies and departments of the state's security and defense sector were invited to the award ceremony: The Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard of Ukraine, the National Police of Ukraine, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, the State Protection Department of Ukraine, the State Customs Service of Ukraine, the State Criminal Executive Service of Ukraine, Ukrzaliznytsia, and the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.

Many of the dog handlers teams present at the ceremony work in combat areas, in particular, detecting explosive devices in areas mined by the russian occupiers, thus saving the lives of Ukrainian citizens.

In addition to the awards, each four-legged “defender” received a tasty gift from Royal Canin and Bravecto.

The ceremony took place on the 34th anniversary of the Ukrainian Kennel Union, which initiated the official establishment of the “Day of the Dog Handler” on November 14.
