Defence Intelligence Aviators Assist Kyiv Residents in Responding to russian Terrorist Attack
June 10, 2025

Last night, russian occupation forces launched another terrorist strike against Ukraine’s capital using Shahed-type drones. The hostile attack triggered a large-scale fire in Kyiv’s Obolon district.

Following the order of Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the Defence Intelligence Of Ukraine, DIU aviation units were immediately deployed to help contain the fire.

Two multi-role Ka-32 helicopters joined the operation. Despite challenging conditions with heavy smoke and high temperatures, the crews carried out 40 water drops, releasing up to 120 tons of water.

The commander of the DUI aviation unit, callsign “Maestro,” described the air operation:

“After the barbaric strikes on Kyiv, we recorded large fires at civilian infrastructure sites. I reported our readiness to assist the civilian population to Lieutenant General Budanov and received the immediate order to take off. He told me, ‘We must protect Kyiv and its residents.’ We coordinated closely with the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and our joint efforts helped extinguish the massive fire within three hours.”

Three industrial enterprises were saved thanks to the coordinated work of firefighters and aviation support.

Lieutenant General Budanov highly praised the performance of the DIU aviators:

“We are not only fighting the enemy on the front lines but also protecting the lives of Ukrainians. We must do everything possible wherever we are, using all available resources,” he stated.

The fight continues! Glory to Ukraine!
