Kyrylo Budanov: Attacks Targeting Occupiers in Crimea Will Continue

January 19, 2024

Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov told about the current situation of the aggressor state and the immediate priorities in the russian-Ukrainian war in a commentary for the Financial Times.

According to intelligence chief, russia's attempts to offence on the eastern front, which have been going on since autumn 2023, have not yielded any breakthrough so far.

“Their last attempt [to attack] has been going on for two months. In fact, it has been unsuccessful,” the Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine said.

He also said that the number of russian casualties on the frontline near Avdiyivka has increased significantly in the last few weeks.

Kyrylo Budanov expressed doubts about the ability of terrorist moscow to equivalently cover the losses of its troops and shells, even with the support of north korea.

The head of Ukraine's intelligence agency stressed the need to continue to put pressure on russia, particularly in Crimea, by attacking from the air, using naval strike drones and conducting covert special operations.

"Our units have repeatedly entered Crimea [last year]," Kyrylo Budanov reminded, adding that active operations of the Special Forces personnel will continue.

As the Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine explained, one of the priorities of the respective missions is to destroy the logistics of the russian occupation army on the temporarily occupied peninsula.
